Maximise Your Motivation

Aug 18 2010

Making things happen in life requires the crucial ability to motivate yourself and others around you. Here are some strategies that can help boost your motivation and help you get things done.

Firstly, surround yourself with those who support or share a positive, motivated attitude towards business, training and life. If your motivation wanes then the contagious enthusiasm and motivation of those around you is sure to get you back on track.

Another trick is to plan and prepare. Life is guaranteed to throw a few daily curve balls your way. Make things easier by controlling what you can. Plan convenient meals, prepare for meeting ahead of schedule, and know exactly what exercises you are to perform in the gym this evening. Leaving things to the last minute will zap energy, detract focus and ultimately hinder the utility of your day.

Try the following exercise: Create a list of activities that can instantly change your emotional state. Refer to the list and pick an action to try next time your motivation dips. Activities could include listening to a music, making a call to a friend with infectious energy, sit somewhere quiet and breathe deeply for a moment, go for a stroll, review your goals. Anything that has the power to emote or energise goes on that list.
